President's Report
Nebraska ASHRAE Members,
I hope you're all staying warm - I just got back from the ASHRAE Winter Conference in Las Vegas and thoroughly enjoyed the 70 degree weather there!
Amanda Bogner was awarded the prestigious Membership Grade of Fellow at the Winter Conference this year. To become a fellow, one must make substantial contributions to the industry and attain distinction within the field of HVAC. It's an incredible honor to be named a Fellow of ASHRAE. Amanda joins the distinguished list of James Carlson, Josephine Lau, Jim Roubal, Tim Wentz, and David Yuill, the Nebraska Chapter ASHRAE Fellows. Please join me in congratulating Amanda and celebrating this remarkable achievement! Congratulations, Amanda!
In January, our Government Affairs Committee hosted Day on the Hill at the Capitol in Lincoln. We spoke with members of the Urban Affairs and Natural Resources Committees regarding the resources ASHRAE offers and to advocate on behalf of LB800 and LB801, which are currently on the floor to update building codes (including energy code) in Nebraska. Jeff McCaslin, our GAC Chair, was able to testify on behalf of the bills as well. Just this week, a few of our chapter members returned to the State Capitol for the official E-Week proclamation by Governor Jim Pillen. Jeff was able to say a few words about the importance of ASHRAE, engineering, and the E-Week proclamation. This committee has been hard at work advocating the work we do every day!
Our annual ASHRAE Trivia Night is coming up in just a few weeks on 2/26! Devin Abellon is returning for one of our most popular events of the year. He'll be presenting on advances in air quality management for our CEU at 2:00 and will follow with his famous trivia night from 3:00-5:00. As always, trivia is non-ASHRAE themed, and we'll have prizes for the winning team! Gather your colleagues and your competitive juices and get signed up today!
You may have also seen a flyer about our upcoming Top Golf Fundraiser sponsored by our RP committee! There are sponsorships available - you can learn more in the newsletter and reach out to Tony Mueller or Callen Schwank if you're interested. The event will be at the end of March, so keep an eye out for more information coming soon.
Join us at our February meetings this month. Our speaker is from the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects, and she'll be discussing when you need the seal of a licensed engineer on a set of drawings. I hope to see you there!
I am so grateful for the incredible support of our ASHRAE members. Thank you for making our chapter what it is today!

ASHRAE Golf Outing
ashrae top golf FUNDRAISER
2026 marks the first year of ASHRAE's Topgolf fundraiser event!
All vendor representatives and manufacturers are being invited to sponsor this event to help bring together our industry for an evening of drinks, food, and Topgolf while also raising money for this year's ASHRAE Research Promotion fundraising campaign! Please find the event details below.
Vendors - we are asking for your help in identifying manufacturers willing to sponsor. This event provides ample marketing opportunities depending on the sponsorship package chosen. There is also a greater opportunity for networking as participants are free to roam about and make connections with anyone at the event.
Similar to the ASHRAE Golf Outing, sponsors are responsible for filling their booths, up to 6 total players per booth.
If you have any questions, please feel free to respond to this email. We will be setting up a payment link if you would like to pay digitally; however, this comes with a processing fee. The most straightforward way would be to pay with a check made out to "Nebraska ASHRAE Research Promotion".
We look forward to hearing from you!
Government Affairs
Nebraska gac spotlight
The Government Affairs Committee has had a busy start to 2026!

On January 20th, Sarah Bordenkecher, Jessica Renner, and Todd McDevitt joined GAC Chair Jeff McCaslin for a “Day on the Hill” event. They successfully met with members of both the Natural Resources and Urban Affairs Committee. That afternoon, Jeff McCaslin stuck around to testify on a committee hearing on LB800 on behalf of ASHRAE.

On February 3rd, Jeff McCaslin was joined by Sarah Bordenkecher, Abby Visty-Brophy, and Anne DeVries for a proclamation ceremony, where Governor Pillen declared E-week in NE on behalf of ASHRAE.
Jeff McCaslin gave the following speech to those present:
Good morning. My name is Jeff McCaslin. I’m an engineer, and I’m here to help kick off National Engineer’s week.

ASHRAE RESEARCH PROMOTION

Target Goal: $25,250
Current Donations: $4400
Click the link below to donate to the 2025-2026 Nebraska Research Promotion fundraising campaign:
https://www.ashrae.org/about/invest-in-the-rp-campaign
If you do not have a specific area you would like your donation applied to (YEA, scholarships, etc.), please consider donating to the Nebraska Chapter's Endowment Fund!
- Choose the option "Endowed Research Funds"
- In the dropdown list next to "Apply To Existing Endowed Fund"
- Select "Nebraska Chapter Research Fund"
Donating to the endowment fund works similarly to growing an investment account. The more donations made to it, the larger the account grows. Every year, we are guaranteed a 5% minimum return on that investment which goes directly to research projects and counts towards our Chapter's RP fundraising goal for the year. In essence, the more we grow the fund, the easier it will be to improve our fundraising capabilities every year! If you regularly donate to the "ASHRAE Research" category, consider this as a way for your donation to have an even larger impact.
Again, THANK YOU to our donors!
