President's Message: I hope everyone had a great Halloween and either gave out or received their fair share of sweets. Now we are already into November and only have a couple short months left in 2019. This is a good time of year to slow down and spend time with family and friends to finish out the year and enjoy the upcoming Holidays. It is also time to move the clocks back an hour so hopefully everyone is able to get rested up with the extra hour or sleep, unless you have young kids like me that don’t seem to care about the time change. If you haven’t registered for the upcoming CEU day, you still have a couple days to do so (unless you waited too long to read this very important ASHRAE Newsletter) before the event on November 5th. This year’s CEU day is focused on Cyber Security, Building Modeling and Analytics. These are some very important and current topics in our industry and I believe we have put together a stellar set of presenters to cover these topics in great detail. Please take a look at the additional details further down in the Newsletter. Following up on this excellent educational day we have some great topics lined up for our monthly meetings. If you have ever wanted to ask a Test and Balance Contractor some questions about how they balance or something from a TAB report but didn’t get around to it we have the perfect opportunity for you. Rick Blackledge will be at the Omaha meeting to answer all your TAB questions. If that doesn’t trip you trigger you can try our Lincoln meeting where we will be delving into turning BIM (Building Information Modeling) to BLM (Building Life-Cycle Management). If you are still looking for another educational opportunity you can join our local YEA presentation on November 21st. Jeremy Hunter will be presenting on chiller configurations and applications geared toward all our young engineers. See the flyer later in the newsletter for more details. No need to be YEA (under 35) to attend! I also encourage everyone to think of any potential new members they could bring to an ASHRAE meeting or event as a guest. The best way to spread the word about the opportunities ASHRAE provides is by exposure. We are always looking for talented chapter members to help out or lead committees. This is a great way to get involved in our industry and learn valuable leadership skills.
