President's Message

Dear Nebraska ASHRAE Members,

I hope everyone had a great Halloween and a productive October!  With only two short months left in the year, I invite everyone to take a step back, refocus your immediate goals, and finish the year strong. A little perspective can be powerful as the weather gets colder (and it gets a little harder to crawl out of that warm bed every morning).

I’m excited to share that the Trapshoot Event had another successful year and raised $2,185 for student scholarships! Thank you to all who participated and Jake Kopocis for leading the event organization. Hopefully we’ll continue to watch this event grow year after year.

I had a great time attending my first Lincoln Section meeting last month, the CRES Plant Tour on the University of Nebraska Lincoln Innovation Campus. The CRES plant is a shining example of creative and sustainable engineering design happening locally, and I encourage everyone to check it out. Also, Abby Visty is doing a wonderful job operating the Lincoln Section activities this year and is so essential to the success of our Nebraska Chapter. Thank you, Abby!

It’s time to start getting your travel plans confirmed for the annual Winter Meeting and AHR Expo which will be held January 30th though February 1st in lovely Las Vegas. This year’s conference line-up includes eight Conference Tracks, tours of the Hoover Dam and MGM CityCenter Central Plant, and Keynote Speaker Adam Steltzner, Chief Engineer EDL, NASA Mars Rover Curiosity and Author. Please visit for registration info.

The next Omaha Section chapter meeting is November 8th at Anthony’s Steakhouse at noon.  We are lucky to have our local experts available for a roundtable discussion about VRF technology. We’ll be digging into VRF design and layout considerations, installation questions, and more. The 2015-16 Research Promotion Investors that contributed to the Nebraska Chapter’s $22,000 fundraising goal will be honored before the roundtable begins.

And finally, get your poker face ready, as the YEA committee will be hosting a Card Night on Monday, November 14th.  See the Calendar of Events for additional details about all upcoming events.
